NO Whey! 3 reasons why plant protein will work better for you than whey.

  What is plant-based Protein?

For anyone who doesn’t already know what plant-based proteins are… as you may have guessed from the name, they are proteins that are derived from plants.

With that being said, there are many different sources that plant based protein powders can come from. Here are a few common ones:

  • Peas
  • Soya
  • Hemp
  • Rice

Each plant based protein source is unique and will provide your body with a different amino acid profile and different nutrients that can aid a variety of things. In our products, we use a blend of Pea and Soya Protein to give a complete amino acid profile, (overcoming the main obstacle for individual plant based protein supplements).

  • Much easier to digest:

Plant based proteins contain fiber and digestive enzymes, which help aid digestion and absorption, leaving your stomach relaxed and satisfied. Most plant proteins are also hypoallergenic, meaning it’s very unlikely your body will respond negatively to them.

Whey, however, contains lactose (a milk sugar molecule) which the body breaks down by creating a digestive enzyme called lactase. This is where the problems with whey start appearing, as we grow up our bodies create less lactase, which means we are unable to process and break down lactose fully, leading to flatulence, diarrhea and that bloated feeling. A problem that is becoming more common these days is that people are simply intolerant to lactose, ruling out Whey proteins all together.

  • More nutritional benefits:

Plant based Proteins are extremely nutrient dense, so as well providing you with the protein you need it also provides your body with loads of essential vitamins and minerals. Due to the fact that plant based proteins are easier to digest you also get the benefit of up to 99% of the nutrients instead of a larger portion of the nutrients (including protein) being passed through your body without absorption.

  • Little to no artificial sweeteners:

Most manufactures fill their whey products with lot of artificial sweeteners and other chemicals which are potentially harmful to your body and only compound the flatulence and digestion problems. Whey protein is also heavily processed which can greatly reduce the nutritional quality of the protein itself. Our VFuel products use raw ingredients such as Cocoa to flavour their products as well as natural plant based sweeteners such as stevia.

Due to the additional nutrients found in our VFuel Pea and Soya protein blends such as acai berry extract there are many extra benefits of plant based proteins. Which include reducing the chance of high blood pressure, giving you a healthier heart, stronger immune system and healthier skin.

So, whether you are vegan or non-vegan, if you care about what you put in your body and the goals you want to achieve then a plant based protein supplement is likely to be the best solution for you!
